Desert snail

They are Desert snails. These guys called rusty iron collector gather fragments of old iron scattered on the desert. The life of Desert snails is very arduous. This is Because they carry extremely hot and heavy rusty iron during life under the burning Sun. The peaces of iron become hard shells by staked. The weight of a completed shell is more than 300 kg. They believe that the shells will protect themselves. Would they look only on one side of shield? Stupidly they cannot withstand the weight of their shells and die.
Several centuries after the failure of the plan of escaping from earth, they have begun to appear and they have an interesting habit. That is when they almost die they parade with heavy shells toward fallen spaceship, Phaethon. Would it be sort of pilgrimage in their own way? This fun habit is barely known. What's obvious is fallen Phaethon is getting covered by their corpses.
